This year Hadrian & I celebrated our nation’s 50th year of Independence in Genting Highlands. Hadrian won 2 tickets to the Arena of Stars for the Ambang Merdeka concert. The local artistes who were performing that night were Gary Cao Ge, Sasi the Don and Dayang Nurfaizah. (never heard of them. hehe)

We checked in to Awana Genting Hotel. It was beautiful. I’d only stayed once in their apartments. Hence, this my first time in the hotel. We got the double deluxe room. The view from our room on the 26th floor.

Wow..2 queen size bed you know?

View from the balcony
After checked in, we drove up to Genting to jalan-jalan. Wah..the air was refreshing and chilling. We went to redeemed the tickets but in the end we didn’t go for the concert. We were attracted to something else. Nope, we didn’t go to the theme park either. (and i found out that entrance to Outdoor Theme Park was free after 6pm? Damn!!)
As many of you know, things in Genting are like super duper xtra expensive right? So who would want to have the idea of shopping in Genting? Well, maybe crazee people like us. We were enjoying ourselves shopping in First World Plaza.. For us, that very day was like Heaven you know? Everything was on sale, MEGA SALE!!! We shopped from Giordano to Padini to G2000 to Esprit then to Blush? OMG!! Did i say Blush? Oops!! LMAO
Whoa!! I tell you…it was shopping spree man. Not that we just grabbed anything nice but at the matter of fact, the stuffs were really cheap. When I say cheap I mean really cheap OK??!! pffftt. I have never shopped like that in my quarter decade living on this earth. The truth is I’m very stingy towards myself one. Things for people I will buy with no 2nd thoughts as long as I can afford it. But for me, myself? Even if I have the money I would have to think 10 times before I even decide getting it. So it was good.*thumbs up
We shopped till we drop! Serious!!
Our feet were aching like its gonna fall off anytime. Hadrian wanted ‘Foot Reflex’ but I didn’t want cos’ it was expensive. So we decided to go for a movie and Ratatouille was it. It was very nice and farnee.. But what we enjoyed most in the cinema was this…

OSIM massage chair. RM15 for a movie plus relaxing massage. Worth it ma?

Though it’s front row but for sure you won’t have stiff neck after the movie because you can lean back!
The only thing that is really expensive there are the foods. Yes, the foods there are super mega pricey! Ok, maybe not super mega but just mega? Does that make any difference? No right? Cos’ still expensive ma. Anyways..not that we care because we had our food stocked up in the hotel all the way from Jaya Jusco, Mid valley can? Let’s see what we got. lalalalala..ahh yes…we had instant noodles (maggi), potato chips, more instant noodle (nissin), potato chips and more instant noodles (ramen). Oh and 2 bottle of red wine. Nyek nyek nyek. Blek!!
We had Marry Brown for dinner. Other than Klang and Genting, I really dunno where else I could find Marry Brown. Can anyone tell me?

Later on, we headed for Snow World. It was ok in there. Cold and freezing cold. Not allowed to bring in our camera so we gotta pay for these photos.

Paid RM28 for these pics O_o
After Snow World we had nothing else to do. Time was around 9:30pm, we had our shopping bags put in the car then our time was spent at the car park outside Genting Hotel for the Countdown.
| Programme at Genting Car Porch | |
| 11.05pm | Drum Performance by Hands Percussion |
| 11.20pm | Cultural Dance Performance |
| 11.30pm | Brass Band |
| 11.45pm | Merdeka Countdown |
| 12.00 midnight | Fireworks Display |
Was kinda bored actually. The performances were lame. The Brass Band were from Taman Petaling Girls School. The songs played were slow and soft. (it was total boredom) Probably they went out of breath because they climbed up to Genting Highlands carrying their instruments la, I thought. pffft!
The only performance that was good was the ‘Hands Percussion Team’. Very synchronized and loud.

Oh I tell you..the countdown was the worse among all. MC was booo.. they were late by almost 1 1/2 minutes ok?! Then the National anthem was played followed by some other songs including ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’ and last but not least, the Fireworks display finally lit up the night-sky at 12.12am. Sweat!!

As you can see, I was standing all the way back from the stage. Firstly, it was way too crowded and secondly we thought the fireworks will be displayed above the Genting Hotel. Little did I know was that the fireworks were mostly coming from the car park behind me. OMG!! It was so closed, man! Fireworks were around me le. I was like standing in a middle of terrorists attacked not knowing where to go? Turning from front to back then left to right then back again then left again then right again then back again…and so on..Wah lau wei!! Cialat! Covered my head with the hood of my jacket because all the fire crackers shell and gun powders were dropping on our head like hail storm. Oi.. don’t laugh la..painful ok??!!
By the time we drove back down to Awana it was like 1:30am. Settled down then had our late supper or rather early breakfast at almost 2:30am
A very romantic and special supper/breakfast we had. We enjoyed it much!

Hehe..what a good combination eh? Instant noodles with Red Wine? Kekeke

We had 2 bottles of Red Wine. (thx to my sis Esther)
Slept at 5am only and we missed our free breakfast! Wuwuwuwu..sniff sniff
I like breakfast buffet but it was substituted with instant noodles..again… blek!! And so we headed back to KL at 2pm. Wanted to catch a movie in 1 Utama but didn’t managed cos’ it took me about an hour to get a parking. So we had early dinner and did some window shopping. Was darned exhausted went finally got home. Phew!!
Just to show off a bit here on what Hadrian got me and what we got from Genting. Our barang-barang(s)…

This may seem not much to some people, but for me..It’s alot! Like I said, you can hardly see me shop like krazeee.. Ooooo..I love it so muchy!

See..my shopping bags..It’s heavy you know? 5nice shopping bags. (This pic was supposed to be taken in Genting while shopping. I was a bit of a “Shopaholic” so I forgotten lor. Hence, I snapped it when I got home, can??) heehee..

Yeah yeah…I know I said only window shopping @ 1 Utama. But I couldn’t resist when I walked in to GAP boutique ok? It was Mega sale too ma. So I got a very nice bag for 40%. nyak nyak nyak.. Which means this makes the 6th shopping bag. Fuyoh!! Shiok-nye…
Well..I guess no more shopping till Christmas! More shopping then if I have the chance to go Hong Kong again
I had a great time spent with Hadrian. It was special and fun fun fun..shopping *teehee..
**Okie dokie..off to bed now.. toodle
